The Progress of Our Family Organization Wall
There was a bare, blank wall between out kitchen and guest bathroom that was just begging to be used something practical and full of DIYs...Isn't ever wall asking for that? hahaha Anyways, I decided to give this little wall just what it wanted and then some....
I created this draft of what I wanted to do based on materials and stuff I already had on hand or knew I wanted to pick up....
I purchased the chalkboard arrow at Walmart for about $2 and then drew the arrow onto it with a chalkboard marker I already had on hand. I can't wait to share the finished product with y'all.
Do you have a family organization wall/area in your home? How useful is it? Lemme know in the comments below. :-D ~Kendra~
I created this draft of what I wanted to do based on materials and stuff I already had on hand or knew I wanted to pick up....
Then I created a wall that was NOTHING like it haha I just feel so much BETTER when I have a plan....even if the end result looks nothing like the original thought. It gets my brain flowing and gives me the confidence to think outside the plan, if that makes sense.
Before I share the final wall....here are a few things I created for the wall to make it fun & functional:
Our wall includes several DIY dry erase boards, so having markers at arms reach was essential to making sure this wall was functional and a REAL time saver. I used a command hook, but added a pop of color by spray painting it coral. I then created a fun pouch to store all our markers and pens. Here's how I made it:
Supplies:
-Piece of burlap
-Strip of white lace
-Hot glue gun and glue sticks
-Ribbon in your color choice
Directions:
1. Fold the burlap into a tube shape.
2. Glue the side together to create a tube.
3. Glue the bottom edges together to create a pocket.
4. Roll over the top edge of the burlap.
5. Glue the lace around the top.
6. Glue the ribbon to the burlap to create a strap.
On to those dry erase boards I was talking about....there soooo simple to make!! Here's how I did it:
Supplies:
-Picture frame
-Label (Stickers and scrapbook paper)
-Scrapbook paper
-Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Directions:
-Create a fun label using sticker and scrapbook paper (I created 3 boards with the following labels: To Do, To Buy and This Week)
-Glue the label onto scrapbook paper.
-Frame the paper.
Simple as that.....great, right!

Gluten-Free, Vegan Eating- Take 2
A little update on my new eating planning....it's going well. The weekdays are super simple to stay on track since I preplan and make most of my meals ahead of time on Sundays. The weekends are the part I've yet to master, but hey....it's a process and I'm not gonna pretend like it's simple from the start. ;-) I'll get there, but converting my weekends will be a process.
Most restaurants we go to are NOWHERE near gluten-free, vegan approved. lol We're in a small town so finding one close to us, probably won't happen. My goal is to start researching the menus of the places we frequently go and pic out things that would keep me on track and fill me up. I CAN DO THIS!!!
I tracked another day of eating, so why not share it with all of you....here goes:
1. Sugar-Free Apple Pie Chia Seed Jam & Breakfast Parfait-> Here's the recipe: http://goo.gl/md0L7d
2. Crackers and hummus
3. Lunch Bowl which included black bean & quinoa salad, 1/2 a sweet potato, mixed veggies and a side of guacamole -> Based off this recipe:http://goo.gl/L7NNRG
4. Banana
5. Spaghetti Squash and homemade sauce with green beans
6. Banana & PB Mini Sandwiches

This was my FIRST TIME trying spaghetti squash and let me just say, it was YUMMY!! Here's the recipe i used to create my gluten-free, vegan spaghetti sauce:
Have you ever tried spaghetti squash or made homemade sauce....I'd love to hear about it in the comments!! ~Kendra~

Creating a Gallery Wall
thought I'd share a bit of home decor ideas/projects with y'all since it's what I'm spending a lot of time doing right now. We moved into our very FIRST home last September and we've been slowly, but surely, conquering all the decorating projects.
I've been working to create a fun, new gallery wall in our living room on the wall right by the entrance to our master bedroom. There's a large wall that was blank except for one owl painting a dear friend gave us for our wedding. I love the painting and wanted to make it the focal point, but wanted to add LOTS more fun. I'm def NOT a minimalist in the decorating department. lol
I found this picture on pinterest and fell in LOVE with the layout, so I came up with my own plan below, check it out:
Now that I've begun the process of creating the wall a few things have changed from the original plan . (Don't they always!) I wanted to share a few DIYs from the gallery wall that I've knocked out thus far....
First, I wanted to create something similar to the monogram in my inspiration picture, but I didn't like the dark black letters, so I went for a pop of color. Here's how i created it:
Supplies:
-2 small letters
-1 large wooden letter
-1 large picture frame
-1 large piece of scrapbook paper
-Spray paint in the color of your choice
-Patterned washi tape
-Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Directions:
1. Frame a piece of scrapbook paper in the large frame.
2. Spray paint 2 small letters in the color of your choice
3. Cover the large wooden letter with patterned wash tape
4. Glue the letters on the glass of the picture frame to form the monogram
I used the same process with the next frame.....just spray paint the wooden number and glue on the glass after you've frame a piece of coordinating scrapbook paper.
The next thing I made was a small picture board. I decided to put this where a mirror should have gone, because I had trouble finding an inexpensive mirror I liked that was the right size & style. I already had all the supplies for this except the mini clothespins, so it just cost me about $2 for those....gotta love that!! Here's how I created it:
Supplies:
-Medium picture frame (Remove the glass)
-1 sheet of scrapbook paper
-Scissors
-2 strips of burlap
-Mini clothespins
-Small pictures or quotes of your choice
-Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Directions:
1. Place the scrapbook paper inside the frame
2. Fold the strips of burlap in 2 with the front flap lower than the back flap.
3. Put them (layered over one another) around the scrap book paper.
4. Glue the edges of the burlap to the bak of the picture frame. (Be sure to trip them down so the frame lays flat on the wall when it's hanging.)
5. Clip on the mini clothespins with the pictures & quotes onto the burlap strips.
I hope y'all enjoyed this post....please let me know if you'd like me to do more of these!! Also, I'd love to hear about what decorating/DIY projects you've tried lately....let me know in the comments. ~Kendra~

Our 4th of July Weekend
I hope y'all had a fantastic 4th of July weekend!! It was wonderful to celebrate our freedom and our country in our new hometown...this was our first 4th in our new home. :-) Yay!!! We went to our small town's festival and fireworks show, which has an apple pie baking contest, a talent show, a watermelon eating contest, vendors, food trucks, concerts from local bands and a super long, awesome fireworks display....PERFECTION!!!
We started the day with a big breakfast at a new little cafe we found, which had a ton of farm fresh, healthy options....I loved it!!! Now, my breakfast wasn't vegan or gluten-free, but it was such a nice treat!!!!
After breakfast we headed to the celebration...

After breakfast we headed to the celebration...
We walked around to all the vendors, tried some fresh squeezed lemonade (DELISH!!) and then sat down and relaxed under a little tent. After cooling off we got lunch-->> Corn dogs and bottle water. We only ate about 1/2...they were huge!! Carnival/fair type food is always so ridiculously sized. lol
After lunch, we took in the talent show and by this point we were BURNING UP in the hot Texas heat, so we decided to head home until tim for the concerts and fireworks show. By heading home, I mean my husband went home and I took shelter from the heat in some of our local thrift stores. haha They were all having awesome sales and for just $10 I scored 2 cute tops and 2 cardigans.
After dinner that evening, we headed back to the festival and watched some country concerts and waited for the fireworks.
I didn't snag any firework pics, but they were awesome!!! My hubby made this day so much fun....he was up for anything and let me lead the way when I wanted to look at all the jewelry vendors, candles and nicknacks.
I wanna know what you did on the 4th....leave me a comment and let me know! ~Kendra~

Giving Gluten-Free, Vegan Eating A Try
I've officially kicked off my gluten-free, vegan meal plan. That's right.....gluten-free and vegan! If you now me, you know I love eggs and turkey bacon, breads of all kinds, etc....A lot of which I'll have to reinvent and recreate in new ways. Over the past few years my diet has been transforming and changing as I've changed. My breakfast back in 2010 ussually consisted of a Sonic Breakfast Buritto and a Route 44oz Coke (Seriously, almost every day!). I cringe at the thought of how horribly I ate back then! Recently, my breakfasts have consisted of things like egg whites or hard boiled eggs, turkey bacon and grapes or an orange with green tea. Definatly a BIG change! Due to some recent health issues, I'm taking an even bigger leap and going ALL IN by trying a Gluten-Free, Vegan diet.
So.....What is gluten?
Gluten is the protein found in wheat and other grains like barley, rye, kamut and spelt.
What does it mean to be Vegan?
Being vegan means that you do NOT eat or use animal products. (I'm focusing on the eating part)

My husband did a ton of research and thought this would be a great way to naturally heal my body. After I watched a ton of Youtube videos, searched for recipes on blogs and got a cookbook, I was convinced....I can (and I WILL) do this! I'm not sure how long....it could be a week or a month or who knows. I'm taking it day by day/ I have all my meals planned out for the week and I'm pretty excited to try some new things. Today I tried Chia Seeds for the first time....they really make oatmeal into a yummy pudding like consistency when a little almond milk is added and you leave them in the fridge overnight...yum!
Here's how my first day went in pictures:

It Always Works Out
The title of this post is a phrase my hubby and I have adopted as our mantra during our first year of marriage an moving into our second. No matter how much we stress or worry about circumstances that we may be smack dab in the middle of.....worry will never create change. God has a plan for us and it always works out according to His will. No, it may not be the exact way we wanted or thought it should go, but somehow time passes and a moment happens where we look at one another and realize we've come full circle and know why we went through a certain trial or time of struggle.
Luckily, I have a faithful God and loving husband who are seeing me through this patch of unknown. My hubs and I have decided to try a bit of natural healing (along with a brigade of doctors appointments) to help speed up the healing process and detoxify my body. I'm going to attempt to change my eating habits and start eating vegan & gluten-free. Now, this is a big leap for me....Yes, I normally eat healthy, but I have NEVER been super strict or militant about it. It was more of a do your best most of the time and don't worry about dinner out with the hubs or friends attitude.
Well now that I'm in this new place health wise, I want to kick it up a notch....I want to do everything I can to be healthy for me and for my husband. So I hope you'll join me as I kick off this new phase of my life. I don't know how long it will last or what impact it will have, but I am more than willing to give it a try. I'd love to hear from y'all.....have you ever gone vegan, gluten-free or both? How'd it go? Any online resources you'd like to share?
That little phrase is the song of my heart right now and I'm trying my best to keep it at the forefront of my mind. I'm going through some health issues right now. I'm in pain from a misaligned spine, have been experiencing some insane migraines and just feel worn out most of the time. I'm not able to do my normal workouts thanks to the lovely spine tingle and I feel my mid section getting a little fluffier than I'd like.
